Is Watching Daily Sitcoms Good or Bad
The popularity of daily sitcoms has been increasing day by day. The audience watching these different daily sitcoms on television also has been growing larger. People just can't seem to get enough of them. After all there are so many daily sitcoms that carter to the tastes of different audiences, coming from different sections of society, age-groups and life-styles. Is this addiction towards watching daily sitcoms a good or a bad thing? Let's find out.
Daily sitcoms are no bad thing as such. There was a time when there used to be this one program on television that the whole family or community would sit together and watch. Since they would watch the same show together, they would have common things to talk about. It would promote togetherness and improve the bonding between them. Watching television together would give them a reason to come together. Again the shows aired promoted harmony and love. Comedy, family stories and romance were the kind of stories that gravitated audiences towards them. Today times are changing. Where in old times, comedies and romance where the hot-topics that people would love to watch on TV, today they are very easily taken over by genres of violence, unwanted drama and horror. The same very television that used to bind people of different communities, age-groups and lifestyles together previously, are the cause of separation today. There are different kinds of shows for children, different ones for the youth and altogether different ones for parents. Some show are made keeping in mind to cater to the tastes of the elite audience, while some other shows are made for the masses. Today if we observe, we'll see that these very shows have the power to mold us into the people we become. The fact that they are loved today, probably even more than movies, shows the amount of influence that they have on us. Shows like 90210 and The OC, that are made keeping in mind the youth, influence them in terms of the way they dress up, talk or even behave with one another. Ditto goes to animated daily sitcoms like The Simpsons and South Park that have double meaning jokes that are easily picked up by the kids of this generation.
However saying all the above daily sitcoms also sometimes promote good things among the people. Often they are the reason to make this world into a better place. One should learn how to learn the good things and close ones eyes to the bad ones.
