Rick will discover a potential safe spot for the group to hide from the walkers. He will come across the spot while saving someone in The Walking Dead season 2 episode 2. Rick, earlier, joined a small group of survivors and together they left Atlanta for a fort which is 125 miles away.

If you remember, they were ambushed by the walkers. In the absence of a good hideout, the group hid underneath the cars and I guess for the first time, they got the opportunity to admire the great footwear donned by the dead.
